MindfulnessMindfulness is a relatively new therapy but one which is growing in popularity. It focusses on deliberately paying attention to whatever you are thinking, feeling and doing in the present moment. Mindfulness therapy helps us to allow our strong emotions rather than to stop our feelings and to notice our thoughts rather than trying to battle with them. It enables us to stay in the moment and focus our mind rather than worrying about what is ahead. It has become very popular with anxiety and stress related disorders.

Transactional AnalysisTransactional Analysis is a theoretical model based on the idea that we have three ego states of Parent, Adult, Child within us that begin in our childhood. Very often we can become aware of having a critical parental voice within us towards ourselves and others and also strongly emotionally react out of a compliant child like state or an adaptive 'good child' state in relationships.
Working with these three different parts can help us understand when we react particularly out of one of the stronger positions and begin to focus on strengthening the Adult position. |
