I have been running my own private counselling practice for over nine years starting in Crawley, West Sussex and for over the past four years running my practice from home in Hurstpierpoint.
My foundational approach is humanistic valuing a person's uniqueness and individuality, believing in the inherent good present within each person. I work in a person centred way which means that I believe in providing an atmosphere of non judgement, unconditional positive regard and empathy in the counselling relationship.
Within this framework, I also offer the opportunity to use other approaches including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Mindfulness, Transactional Analysis and creative therapy.
Alongside my private practice, I have also been working for the past five years as a Senior Counsellor for a bariatric consultancy. This has enabled me to gain extensive experience of working with obesity.
As a therapist, I am consistently looking to professionally increase my knowledge and skills through further CPD. I am currently working towards a diploma in couple counselling with Relate and looking to begin extending my practice into offering a service to couples in the near future.
I belong as a registered member to the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I follow their Ethical Framework for good practice and uphold their guidelines within my own standards of practice. These guidelines can be accessed on the BACP website.
